Contemporary Dance
I have been teaching contemporary dance in various settings for the past 25 years. I am at my best when I teach what I'm curious about. Though I spend a good amount of time preparing class material, I aim to let the learning emerge organically, leaving room for the needs of the students and the moment.
I teach university level dance programmes, open professional dance trainings, as well as workshops for the public.
I offer two courses :
- Movement Research Studies – combines the improvised exploration of movement and movement patterns with the learning of set floor material. While designed for dancers, these classes are suitable for anyone used to working with movement and set material.
- Contact Improvisation – a post-modern dance form which develops a variety of skills useful for interacting with another person. Though some dance experience is an advantage , these classes are open to anyone willing to explore and play with the possibilities of the present moment in dialogue with another person
